“Unseen” is a thought-provoking painting that features three figures, each suspended in mid-air by slender red strings, against a muted background. These figures, depicted with watercolor delicacy, are in various states of repose, suggesting introspection and vulnerability. The title hints at the internal struggles and emotions that are often concealed from view—the unseen aspects of our psyche.
The fetal positions of two figures represent a retreat to a place of comfort and self-protection, while the inverted figure might symbolize a life turned upside-down or a radically different perspective. The red strings tethering them can be seen as metaphors for the unseen bonds or forces that shape our lives, such as personal relationships, societal expectations, or destiny.
The use of negative space accentuates the sense of isolation and contemplation, emphasizing the disconnect between our inner lives and what we reveal to the world. The painting is an invitation to acknowledge and reflect on the unobserved facets of human experience—the silent, hidden depths that govern our visible actions and interactions. It is a visual meditation on the complexities of the human condition and the invisible threads that hold and sometimes bind us in unseen ways.
